Dr. Nutmeg & Femmebot 7.0

Kerri Sohn is an actress and writer, known for Nobody’s Watching (2017) and The Feels (2016). It was in 2005 that Kerri and Mel met in Miami at a Wynwood art show. Mel invited Kerri to write for the Biscayne Times, where Kerri subsequently created a column called “Culture Void.” Years later, they reconnected in New York to collaborate on the first season of Dr. Nutmeg’s Femembots. Kerri is also co-director of our first season.

Femmebot 2.0, the Brobots & Russian Troll Farmers
Angello Pizarro is an actor and writer, known for Monsters of Mulberry Street (2017). In 2008, Mel and Angello met at a Miami Writers open mic.  Angello served in the military before becoming a poet, then studied at Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York. He writes hilarious dialogue and does perfect accents for Femmebot 2.0 and Dr. Nutmeg’s sidekicks, the Russian Troll Farmers.

Creator/Writer/Animator: Melanie Feliciano started her career in 1999 as a writer and producer for Latino.com, a startup based inside a women’s tech incubator in San Francisco. Throughout her 20 years working as a multimedia producer specializing in WordPress, Drupal, Responsive HTML, CSS, data visualization, video production and animation, she discovered working with men in tech was quite different from working with women.

“I was lucky to be mentored by a woman in the tech industry when I was first starting out my career,” she says. While women nurtured her potential, men were threatened by it. The experience inspired her to launch www.TheFemmebots.com, a blog that converts her experiences into comedy. From stand-up to live performances at Art Basel Miami Beach to a live action series filmed in Washington, DC to animating short episodes funded by a Kickstarter in 2017, “Dr. Nutmeg’s Femmebots” is a testament to Mel’s efforts to change the conversation about diversity in tech. Mel does the voiceover for Femmebot 1.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0.
