Why is a picture of a woman in a bikini objectification?

Is she an object?

Or is she a woman?

Who is objectifying her?

The feminists in the 1960s? Did they forget that the women in the pictures were just like them? You know, with brains and souls inside their beautiful bodies?

Or was it the oogling B-O-Ys who would skip dinner and conversation if they could?

Is a picture of a man in his underwear objectification?

If his head is cut off, well, then, yes.

But then, at the end of the day, who cares?

Why think, think, think so much when there are parties to attend, meetings to crash, shopping to attack?

When I think of my three-year-old niece, I start to care.

When I think of her self-worth, I start to care.

When I think that she may have to resort to biology to make her living, that’s when I believe in the power of education and technology.
