A general resource for feature film and entertainment industry information -
The leading organization for documentary filmmakers. Publishes a monthly magazine for members. -
The mission of Independent Media Publications is to inform, promote, encourage, and mobilize independent and grassroots media-makers.
The organization, which is in process of obtaining official 501(c)(3) status, was started with the intent of rescuing, re-envisioning and re-launching the print publication, archival records, and online resources of The Independent Film & Video Monthly. The magazine had been a vital publication to the community of independent media-makers from 1978 through July 2006, at which point it ceased publication when its parent, a nonprofit organization called the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers (AIVF), closed its doors.
Both the AIVF’s board of directors and its general membership voted in early 2007 to transfer the rights of the publication and other materials to Independent Media Publications. Since then, we have launched this website to continue the tradition of The Independent and to make available all the past issues of the magazine. So far we were able to post online all the articles that were already in digital form. With your support, we hope to digitize and post online all the articles dating back to the first issue in 1978, in order to preserve this invaluable historic resource for the independent film community.

The Numbers was officially launched on October 17th, 1997 as a free resource for industry professionals and fans to track business information on movies. Since its humble early beginnings, with just 300 tracked movies, the site has grown to become the largest freely available database of movie industry information on the web. Nearly 10,000 movies and about 500,000 separate pieces of information are now stored in the database, and The Numbers continues its commitment to making this data available to the widest possible audience. -
Lots of news and lots of opinions. -
For nearly 25 years, Current has been the newspaper about public broadcasting in the United States. The paper comes out biweekly, usually every other Monday, 23 times a year.
It’s read by people involved in public TV and public radio station employees, independent producers, local volunteers and board members, viewers and listeners, state and national policymakers and others.
In a field of autonomous stations and independent producers, split between TV and radio and spread around a very large country, the most widely read periodical serves as one of the few shared resourcespublic broadcasting’s meeting place.
Current is an editorially independent journalistic service of the Current Publishing Committee, administered by Educational Broadcasting Corp., operator of public TV stations WNET and WLIW in New York City.

Founded in 1998, Documentary Films .Net was relaunched with renewed energy in 2006. This site provides documentary film information and resources to both viewers and filmmakers. Documentary Films .Net is 100% volunteer driven and is lucky to have a devoted base of filmmakers, reviewers, IT people and students to keep the dream alive. The content here is created by people with a passion for documentary films. In that vein, we’ve tried to keep the site as open as possible by allowing readers to add documentary films, festivals, events and resources to relevant sections of the site. In so doing, we hope to provide a valuable resource to those with an interest in documentary films while simultaneously helping independent documentary filmmakers and festival coordinators promote their films and events. As a community oriented resource, Documentary Films .Net is in a state of perpetual motion — constantly evolving with the community on which it depends.
